Eyelash Extensions FAQ
To ensure long -lasting eyelash extensions and a comfortable and relaxing experience, prepare for your application
- Remove all eye make-up, including eyeliner, eye shadow, mascara, eye creams, and eye serums. Wash your hair (it's recommended not to wet extensions for 24 hours after application)
- Do not wear contacts to your appointment. Wear glasses instead.
- Do not curl your eyelashes on the day of your lash appointment.
- Do not apply heavy creams or oils to your face within 48 hours prior to your eyelash application.
- Do not receive chemical treatments to your eyelashes, such as tinting or perming, within 48 hours prior to your appointment.
- Ensure you have fully recovered from recent irritating eye-area treatments, such as skin-resurfacing procedures, chemical peels, laser treatments and permanent makeup application. Recovery time varies with each procedure and individual.
What are Eyelash Extensions?
Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent synthetic fibers used to create more volume while lengthening and extending the natural eyelashes.
You will have instant volume along with long, luscious lashes. Best of all, our lashes have been specially designed to look completely natural; No one will suspect they are not yours!
You must have some natural eyelashes for this procedure.
These lashes are not heavy therefore do not weigh down the natural lash causing them to prematurely shed and potentially break.
The shine and shape will not be affected by water, warm weather, steam or sweat.
How long do Eyelash Extensions last?
It depends on home care, how dry or oily your skin. Some medications can cause poor lash retention.
To maintain the look, re-Lash appointments are necessary every 3 to 4 weeks to replace the lashes that have shed or outgrown naturally.
I always advise that after the initial set of extensions a re-lash should be done at 2 weeks as they may have lost or shed more than normal due to the time of their shed cycle.
How to Care for your Eyelash Extensions
The eyelash cycle is approximately four to twelve weeks. Do not be alarmed if some of your lashes fall out quickly (they most likely were at the end of their cycle). The majority of extensions will stay through a complete cycle if you follow these guidelines:
- Your natural eyelashes should not get wet for a minimum of two hours; 24 hours would be ideal to allow the adhesive properly to bond to a dry eyelash (soggy eyelashes do not make for a good adhesion).
- Do not use regular or waterproof mascara. Most brands of mascara contain chemical properties and oils that will break down the adhesive.
- Take special care around the eye area when cleansing your face. Gently cleanse the eye area and do not scrub or rug your eyes. Avoid any type of oil-based product around the eyes. Again, the oils will break down the adhesive and cause the extensions to fall off. Resuming with normal activities is ok (i.e. - face washing). When possible, it is best to wait up to 12 hours.
- Never use a clamp-style eyelash curler on your extensions. This can permanently damage not only the extensions, but your natural eyelashes as well. Eyelash combs are great for grooming your lashes every morning.
- Adhesive is cured by moisture, however, by avoiding extreme variation of heat, humidity, and cold weather
(i.e. – hot showers, saunas, zero degree weather), your extensions can last longer.
- Be sure to schedule re-Lash appointment every 2 to 3 weeks for timely touch-ups. This will keep your lashes looking full and natural, indefinitely.
- Do not attempt to remove the extensions yourself.
